Looking at other magazine covers has got me thinking about my own cover. I have asked my model Jess and she agreed to be my cover image. I have an idea where I follow the black and white theme that is used in lots of magazine covers, I also took the idea of having Jess with a rebellious reputation. She would be wearing a leather jacket and jeans with her hair gelled up and back off her face, her makeup would be dark and intense to show that it is a fashion and beauty magazine and her cheek bones would be emphasized. I have a plan that she will be sat on the floor or leaning against a stool using a mid shot and direct address to make the cover more personal for the demographic. As the whole cover will be black and white, I intend to use a pink or light blue writing to give the rebel feel to the cover and so it reflects and compliments the main image.
The idea of having a rebellious looking model in place of a celebrity is that to in a way follow the stereo type for fashion and beauty models to be seductive however, my model wont be showing lots of skin, a bit like in these photos.
I have done my photoshoot with my model and I am pleased with the outcome. i was there for around two hours which was enough time to do hair and makeup and take the pictures for the article, contents page and cover.
I have started thinking about how I can make the cover and how I can position my anchorage text and masthead with the right font and colour palette, these are my first drafts:
I like the image in the first one and the lighting on the last cover is better than the middle image. the jagged and rough font style definitely works well with the image and the overall representation however i am not happy with the anchorage text. I like the positioning of it in the middle cover as it is on the left third and easily seen however more thought is required in order for me to get it perfect.
